RUX Soft Coolers
New from RUX is their soft cool totes that are available in two sizes, 5 and 25-litre.
Both are designed to be lightweight, compressible and easy to carry, and utilising memory foam technology they retain cool temperatures more effectively, keeping your perishables (and beer) perfectly chilled for longer.
An added bonus of the protective nature of the memory foam (and captured foam base), along with the roll-top, tri-fold closure, is that it allows the coolers to double as padded protective totes and dry bags for electronics and camera gear. So whether it’s your breakfast, dinner, tea and supper (yes, in that order!), or other fragile valuables, you can be confident that your contents are kept protected inside.
Starting with the larger of the two, the 25-litre, insulated with the aformentioned memory foam and wrapped in heavy-duty RF welded 840D TPU, it measures 36x23x30 cm and weighs in at just 1,110g. It includes removable grab handles and a padded adjustable shoulder strap that helps ease the load when filled with umpteen bottles of beer - water, I mean water.
The smaller 5-litre Cooler Cube is made from heavy duty RF welded 420D TPU double side coated nylon fabric that creates a water and dust proof seal and measures 22x16x16 cm and weighs just 320g - perfect size for a 6 pack or a packed lunch for two.
The interesting part of the RUX system is that both coolers are designed to integrate efficiently into, and onto, other RUX products like the 70-litre case that I’ll review soon.
Notice the many ‘cuts’ in the side of both coolers? These are multiple lash points that allow for a variety of tie down possibilities, and also enable the use of the RUX Waterproof Bag or RUX Cooler Bag shoulder strap. Essentially, you can secure either Soft Cooler to almost anything!
If you are serious about keeping you items cold, for extra insulation you can actually fit four of the small Cooler Cubes into the large 25-litre bag.
Overall both products are really very good. We haven’t performed a proper scientific test, but we’ve noticed that after a day hidden in a hot vehicle their contents have remained chilled. Add that they’re also lightweight, compressible, and easy to carry makes the RUX Soft Coolers very easy to recommend.
