When you're off-roading, and you are jumping in and out of your vehicle, you don't want to be wearing a bulky coat that will hinder your movements or get caked in mud, and, as we all know, with the Great British weather you are likely to get wet, really wet, oh and probably quite muddy too.

So what's the solution?

Well I think this pack-away raincoat from SPLASHitToMe is a pretty good contender. Made from high quality nylon, it's really light and flexible, and easy to wear when driving. It has a nice big hood and is a good knee length, so when you're trying to hitch up your caravan, or attach a winch hook in monsoon conditions you'll stay nice and dry.

The adult sizes pack away into a small 17 x14 x 8cm size zipped pack made from one of its own pockets (the kids version packs away to even smaller dimensions), so it's really handy to keep in your car on a permanent basis for those times when you find yourself caught unprepared for downpours (e.g. car breakdowns) or keep one in the kids’ school bags for the inevitable walk to school downpour..

They have 2 large pockets, popper front closers and they have very practical gathered cuffs, and come in a variety of sizes and colours. Check out their size chart before you buy, because as I found out they are a generous fit. The one I'm wearing in the picture is a M size, and there was room to spare. I am usually a size 18 in ladies or L/XL in mens sizes, so I would never usually have gone for Medium.

NOTE: When it first arrives you may want to unpack it and hang it up in the garage, or hang it on your washing line for a day or two as it has a strong smell, probably from the manufacturing process, and once aired, the smell goes away. That's its only problem.
