Pentax K3-II

At the time of writing this, the K3-II is currently the flagship of the Ricoh/Pentax DSLR range, it has a few extra features over the K3 (clicky link http://www.crossaxle.com/product-review-pentax-k3/) that I reviewed last month.

Both have 24.4 megapixels and an ISO that goes up to 51.200 for taking photos under extremely poor lighting conditions, both are weather proof which is incredibly useful for those of us who live in the UK!

What it boasts over the K3 is a built-in GPS for you to Geotag your images and a better battery life, 760 shots compared to the K3’s 560. The K3-II also has a new feature called Pixel Shift Resolution which is an advanced resolution technology for capturing still life objects in ultra high resolution, oh, and an Astrotracer!

It’s a tough camera too, it has a lightweight magnesium alloy body wrapped around stainless steel chassis and has 92 protection seals making it weather resistant and can be used at temperatures as low as -10°C.

It boasts 24 megapixels, and can continuously record as many as 22 images in the RAW format or 60 images in the JPEG format in a single sequence, at a maximum speed of approximately 8.3 images per second.

It records full HD movies too and comes equipped with a stereo mic terminal for external microphone connection and a headphone terminal.

I wrote in my previous K3 review that the K3-II wasn’t a big enough upgrade for me, well having used it for a month I have to say that it is, and I’m going to put my money where my mouth is and buy one!

I have to admit that I am a Pentaxian, so I can be a bit biased, however, for other opinions open Google and type in ‘Pentax K3-II vs’, then the camera you want to compare it against. There are quite a few comparison websites out there for you to read and I bet you’ll be surprised at how it stacks up against Canon and Nikon.
