Barbour Wetheral
There are times when I look in the mirror and reckon that I’m fairly trendy and look rather dapper, but reality strikes in the form of Muddy Madam who crushingly informs me that I’m deluded. However, even she has to agree that Barbour’s Wetheral looks great, but whether it looks great on me is another matter!
Barbour called this a zipped jumper, but Muddy Madam reckons it's a cardigan. Personally I think I'm too young to wear a cardigan, so I'm sticking with Barbour's description. Barbour also says that the Wetheral strikes a balance between functional and modern, offering relaxed, stylish attire for the town and country. Now I’m not sure what that means exactly, but as the Wetheral is made from 100% lambswool with a detachable quilted lining, which can be worn separately, it’s smart, warm and very comfortable.
Arguably, this review is fairly pointless as Barbour doesn’t make the Wetheral anymore, and being at least 6-years old, I doubt that any outlets will still hold them in stock. However, I wanted to make the point that, at £185 the Wetheral was bloomin’ expensive, but as the old saying goes, “The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” – Benjamin Franklin, apparently.
To sum up then, after 6-years of use my Wetheral is like new and still gets used regularly, and in my experience with Barbour gear, you most certainly get what you pay for.
